Byron
Wallen : Constantly in demand for recording or touring projects,
with many commissions for large-scale ensemble compositions
already to his credit, Byron Wallen is one of the most dynamic
and versatile trumpeters currently on the British jazz scene.
He has played with, among others, Courtney Pine, Mervyn Africa,
David Murray, the Style Council, Incognito, Nikki Yeoh and -
alongside Bill Laswell - Talvin Singh.
As well as his own two small group albums on B&W/MELT 2000
- 'Sound Advice' and 'Earth Roots' - Byron has guested on many
other albums from that excellent label. Look out for him also
on Richard Horowitz and Sussan Deyhim's intoxicating 'Majoun',
playing with West African and Gnawa musicians on 'Bambaraka',
and both live (they opened for the Prodigy tour last year) and
on CD with Red Snapper.
'Acoustic Masks', his duo collaboration with Felix Jay, are
now taking bookings for live appearances - between them they
can fill the stage with more than fifty different instruments
from all over the world
