The Udu pot is a traditional clay fired percussion instrument which originated from the ancient Ibo Tribe in Nigeria. The name 'udu' comes from the Ibo Tribal Language and means both pottery and peace. |
It owes its design primarily to the water vessels carried by the women on their heads, from which it descended over thousands of years. It came to be an important part of tribal religious ceremonies in Nigeria. The
Udu combines the unique sound of 'aqua-resonance' with a warm
earthy vibration, producing a seamless fusion of deep and high
ambient tones. |
